OVER 82 YEARS SERVING CUSTOMERS IN IDAHO

In 1919 L.G. Peterson returned home from WWI and opened up his garage at home in Idaho Falls, Idaho and started repairing cars. L.G. learned auto mechanics at the age of 21 in the military where he learned to drive and maintain the Armies ambulances during the war. In 1922, L.G. Peterson with a partner opened "The Idaho Garage" as Gem State Auto in Idaho Falls and shortly after started selling new Buick trucks, Star and Durant automobiles. As time passed L.G. built a new garage and continued to sell Star and Durant automobiles until 1927 when Gem State Auto partnership was dissolved.

L.G. moved to Boise, Idaho and on February 1, 1928 opened Peterson Motors at Bannock and 10^th street where he only sold and serviced the Durant line of automobiles his first year. Eventually L.G. took on Oldsmobile in 1929 and also during the year added high-end luxury cars from Auburn and Oldsmobile.

L.G. Peterson became a distributor for Hudson Automotive for Southern Idaho and Eastern Oregon in 1934 with 30 sub-dealers in and around Idaho and Oregon.

1941- WWII was the headline's and all new car production stopped!!! Marvin Peterson, LG's son, also known as Mr. P. was attending Boise High School and delivered car parts for the dealership on his bike.

In 1950 Mr. P. started working in the family business with his dad. Peterson Motors on 12^th and Main street was operating with approximately 30 employees now selling and servicing Hudson and Diamond T. Trucks. Between 1954-1962 Hudson/Nash became American Motors, Mr. P. was selling 25-30 Ramblers per month. Peterson Motors became a retail only dealership.

Toyota Motor approached Mr. P in 1965 to become a dealer. Although everyone thought he was crazy, he did foresee a long future partnership with them that still stands strong today. 5 years later, after the Toyota partnership was continuously growing, Mr. P. acquired the BMW franchise in 1970.

Peterson Motors in 1975, with their continuous quality of sales and service to customers was experiencing progressive growth in Boise, Idaho when Mr. Harrah offered Mr. P. a substantial amount of money for his dealership... Mr. Harrah was turned down.

1980, Mr. P's son Mark Peterson entered into the family business and started selling cars. In just 4 years Mark became the Jeep Sales Manager and held this position for the next 6 years. As Boise grew so did the communities around us. In 1992 Peterson Motors moved the dealership from downtown Boise to a more centralized location on Fairview Avenue and Maple Grove between Boise and Meridian, Idaho, thus the Peterson Motors Autoplex was born. With the room to grow the Autoplex now added Lexus to their dealership.

Growth of the business did not stop there! In 1995 Peterson Stampede was opened in Nampa, Idaho offering Dodge and Volkswagen. Mr. P. moved Jeep products to Nampa and the VW product to Boise.
